GCP Architect

Our client is seeking a hands-on GCP Architect to help accelerate customer onboarding into Google Cloud by designing, automating, and governing scalable cloud landing zones. The role sits between architecture, cloud engineering, networking, security, and automation, supporting public sector and enterprise clients adopting GCP.

This is not a pure architecture or advisory role. The successful candidate will be expected to combine strategic cloud design with hands-on implementation and automation.

Key Responsibilities

GCP Landing Zone Design & Deployment

  • Design and implement scalable GCP landing zones for enterprise and public sector customers.
  • Build secure cloud foundations that support pilot, PoC, and production workloads.
  • Ensure environments can scale without creating future technical debt.
  • Develop reusable deployment patterns and templates.

Infrastructure Automation

  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
  • Extend and optimise Google Cloud Foundation Toolkit / Cloud Fabric templates.
  • Create repeatable automation processes that reduce onboarding time for new customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of internal cloud deployment assets.

Networking & Security Architecture

  • Design GCP networking architectures including:
  • Shared VPCs
  • Hybrid connectivity
  • IPSEC VPNs
  • Cloud Interconnect
  • IAM and identity integration
  • Apply Zero Trust principles where appropriate.
  • Advise on Security Command Center (SCC) Standard vs Premium implementations.
  • Ensure cloud environments follow security and compliance best practices.

Multi-Cloud Integration

  • Design integrations between:
  • GCP
  • Microsoft Azure
  • On-Premises Infrastructure
  • Support organisations operating hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Integrate Azure AD / Entra ID identity models with GCP.

Customer Advisory & Architecture

  • Engage directly with customers during onboarding and discovery workshops.
  • Make architectural decisions and defend technical recommendations.
  • Balance speed, security, scalability, and cost considerations.
  • Support complex customer environments and cloud adoption journeys.

  • Exposure to Google Cloud Agentic AI and emerging AI networking/security capabilities.
